Economic and Financial Affairs Council
Topic: Conditionality, Debt, and the Future of Development Finance
Committee Background Guide
Topic Description
Since its establishment in 1948, the international community has relied on coordinated foreign aid efforts to address some of the world’s most urgent public health challenges. Today, however, rapid technological change, the emergence of new diseases, and growing distrust in global institutions have placed significant strain on these systems. This moment presents a critical challenge for the future of global health assistance. In response, this committee calls on delegates to reevaluate and strengthen existing foreign aid frameworks, developing comprehensive and effective solutions to better address evolving global health needs while ensuring equity, accountability, and long-term impact.
