Financial Aid Application

Thank you for your interest in attending Harvard Model United Nations Dubai 2027. For the first time in conference history, HMUN Dubai will be offering financial aid to delegations and individual delegates. Delegations/delegates must first register for HMUN Dubai before filling out the financial aid application form, which is due by 15 September 2026. Applications submitted after this date may not be considered. Note that the financial aid application is different for delegations of multiple delegates and individual delegates attending the conference who are not part of a larger delegation. Financial aid is not guaranteed and will be awarded to delegations/delegates subject to availability. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF FINANCIAL AID

These policies supplement the policies listed in the Conference Policies provided during registration. Please ensure that your delegation/delegate understands and complies with both the Conference Policies and the Terms and Conditions of Financial Assistance.

Submitting an application for financial assistance does not guarantee that HMUN Dubai will provide any amount of aid, whether full or partial. Given the number of requests we receive, the Secretariat cannot make any upfront aid commitments to any delegation or individual. Applying delegations/delegates must wait for notification of the HMUN Dubai 2027 Secretariat’s official decisions, which will be made within two weeks of the relevant application deadline.

This application for financial assistance does not register a delegation or individual for HMUN Dubai 2027. The application supplements registration and should only be completed by delegations or individuals who have already registered for the conference. Please ensure that your delegation/delegate has completed registration and paid the registration fee. Delegations/delegates should refrain from incurring expenses that rely solely on the receipt of financial assistance. Financial need created by expenses that depend entirely on receiving HMUN Dubai financial assistance will not, on its own, be considered sufficient reason to award aid.

Financial assistance is contingent upon a delegation/delegate’s completion of all committee sessions and adherence to all conference policies. Delegations/delegates receiving financial assistance must attend every HMUN Dubai 2027 committee session for which they are registered in order to receive their financial aid awards, except in extenuating circumstances determined by the HMUN Dubai Secretariat. Only committee staff are authorized to determine attendance. This includes, but is not limited to, the respective Dais, the HMUN Dubai 2027 Secretariat, and the Secretary-General.

Financial assistance will be distributed in a manner approved by the USG-Finance and the IRC’s Chief Auditor, including but not limited to ACH or wire transfer to a designated bank account. Unless otherwise agreed to by the HMUN Dubai 2027 Secretariat, financial assistance will be distributed as reimbursement after eligible expenses have been documented and approved.

Official receipts are required for all financial assistance reimbursements. No expenses will be reimbursed without corresponding receipts. Delegations/delegates must submit receipts equal to the amount of aid they are seeking to receive. If a delegation/delegate submits receipts for only a portion of its awarded aid, HMUN Dubai may reimburse only the corresponding portion of the award, provided that the submitted receipts are deemed suitable and relevant.

The Secretary-General and USG-Finance reserve the right to determine whether specific expenses qualify for reimbursement. They may decline to reimburse expenses that do not qualify, even if financial assistance was previously awarded. All reimbursements will be made at the discretion of the USG-Finance, and the USG-Finance reserves the right to refuse reimbursement if any of the above conditions are not met.

Should any part of a delegation/delegate’s financial assistance be disbursed before the end of the conference, failure to adhere to financial aid policies or conference policies may result in the remaining balance of the delegation/delegate’s financial aid being withheld in part or in full. Such circumstances may also negatively affect future applications for financial aid by the same institution and/or individuals.

If a delegation or delegate violates conference policies, this may constitute a valid reason to withhold or deny reimbursement. All decisions related to financial assistance are final.

All information submitted as part of the HMUN Dubai 2027 Financial Assistance Application must provide the most accurate representation possible of the financial situation of the school, delegation, and individual delegates. Any misrepresentation by a delegation or delegate will automatically render the delegation or delegate ineligible for financial assistance and may jeopardize future participation in HMUN Dubai.
